Split

The Split component divides a string into substrings, using a specified separator.

Ports

The Split component exposes the Control In, Control Out, Data In, and Data Out ports by default.

Port Description
ControlIn Must be connected to the Control Out port of one or more components..
ControlOut Can be connected to the Control In port of another component or the default end component.
Data In The Split component exposes the following Data In ports by default:

Text: specifies the string to split into substrings.
separator : specifies where the split must occur (string).
Data Out Returns substrings of the specified string.

Properties

To edit the properties of the Split component, in the Properties window, change the required property. You can edit the following properties.

Property Description
Search for the respective property.
Delay After Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) after the action is performed.
Delay Before Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) before the action is performed.

Let us consider an example.

To split a string into substrings:

  1. In the Toolbox, expand Utilities and then expand String Utilities.

  2. Drag the Split component and drop it on the Design surface.

  3. Double-click the Text box and enter the string to split.

  4. Double-click the separator box and enter the required separator.

    Note

    You can override the existing data source for the Text and separator Data In ports.

    To override the existing data source:

    • Right-click the required Data In port.

    • Click Override and change the data source.

    To learn more about overriding the data source of the data port, refer the Override section.

  5. Drag the GET LIST ITEM component and drop it on the Design surface.

  6. Click Screenshot , to add items to retrieve in the component.

  7. Drag the FORMAT TEXT component and drop it on the Design surface.

  8. Double-click the Format Text component title bar.
    The Text Format Editor window is displayed.

  9. Enter a common letter format to be displayed.

  10. Drag the Show component and drop it on the Design surface.

  11. Connect the control ports and data ports in the activity.

  12. In the toolbar, click Run.
    The string is split into substrings as specified.
