Contains

The Contains component indicates if a particular substring occurs within another specified string.

Ports

The Contains component exposes the Control In, Control Out, Data In, and Data Out ports by default.

Port Description
ControlIn Must be connected to the Control Out port of one or more components.
ControlOut Can be connected to the Control In port of another component or the default end component.
Data In The Contains component exposes the following Data In ports by default:
Text: specifies the string which may contain the substring.
textToSearch: specifies the substring to check.
ignorecase:Specify the substring value as it performs a case-sensitive search
"True": Not case sensitive.
"False":Case sensitive.
Data Out Returns the Boolean value “True” if the string contains the given substring. Otherwise, returns “False”.

Properties

To edit the properties of the Contains component, in the Properties window, change the required property. You can edit the following properties.

Property Description
Search Search for the respective property.
Delay After Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) after the action is performed.
Delay Before Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) before the action is performed.

Example

Let us consider an example.

To check if a string contains a specified substring:

  1. In the Toolbox, expand Utilities and then expand String Utilities.

  2. Drag the Contains component and drop it on the Design surface.

  3. Double-click the Text box and enter the required string.

  4. Double-click the textToSearch box and enter the required substring.

    Note

    You can override the existing data source for the Text and textToSearch Data In ports.
    To override the existing data source:

    • Right-click the required Data In port.
    • Click Override and change the data source.
      To learn more about overriding the data source of the data port, refer the Override section.
  5. To enable display of the returned value:

    • In the Toolbox, expand General.

    • Expand MessageBox component , drag the Show component and drop it on the Design surface.

  6. Connect the control ports and data ports in the activity.

  7. In the toolbar, click Run.
    The messagebox displays “True” as the specified string contains the given substring.

    If the specified string does not contain the given substring, the messagebox displays “False”.

  8. Click OK.
