The DecryptString component takes an input string and returns the decrypted value of the string.



The DecryptString component exposes the Control In, Control Out, Data In, and Data Out ports by default.

Port Description
ControlIn Must be connected to the Control Out port of one or more components.
ControlOut Can be connected to the Control In port of another component or the default end component.
Data In The Decrypt String component exposes the following Data In ports:
Text: specifies the text to decrypt (String).
encryptionKey: Allows you to set an encryption key.
Data Out Returns a decrypted output string.


To edit the properties of the DecryptString component, in the Properties window, change the required property. You can edit the following properties.

Property Description
Delay After Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) after the action is performed.
Delay Before Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) before the action is performed.


Let us consider an example.


  1. In the Toolbox, expand Utilities and then expand Security.

  2. Drag the DecryptString component and drop it on the Design surface.

  3. To specify the text to decrypt, double-click the Text box and enter the encrypted text from the previous example.

  4. Double-click the encryptionKey box and enter the encryption key.


    You can override the existing data source for both the Text and the encryptionKey Data In ports. To override the existing data source:

    • Right-click the required Data In port.
    • Click Override and change the data source.

  5. Drag the Show component and drop it on the design surface.

  6. Connect the control ports and the data ports in the activity.

  7. In the toolbar, click Run.
    The decrypted output string is returned
