The Combine Component enables the user to combine two strings into a path.



The Combine component exposes the Control In, Control Out, and Data In ports by default.

Port Description
ControlIn Must be connected to the Control Out port of one or more components.
ControlOut Can be connected to the Control In port of another component or the default end component.
Data In The Combine component exposes the following Data In ports by default:
Path1: specifies the path of the file.
Path2: specifies the filename to be added.
Data Out Returns status of the Combined file path(string).


To edit the properties of the Combine component, in the Properties window, change the required property. You can edit the following properties.

Property Description
Search Search for the respective property.
Delay After Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) after the action is executed.
Delay Before Execution Specifies the wait time (in seconds) before the action is executed.


Let us consider an example.


To Combine the path with the filename:

  1. In the Toolbox, expand Utilities and expand File.
  2. Drag the Combine component and drop it on the Design surface.
  3. Double-click Path1 and enter the root path.
  4. Double-click Path2 and enter the filename to be added to the path.


    You can override the existing data source for both the Path1 and the Path2 Data In ports. To override the existing data source:

    • Right-click the required Data In port.
    • Click Override and change the data source.

    To enable display of the Combined path,you can add a MessageBox component to the activity.

  5. To add the MessageBox component.

    • In the Toolbox,Expand General Category.

    • Expand the MessageBox component, drag Show component and drop it on the desig surface.

  6. Connect all the control ports and the data ports in the activity.

  7. In the toolbar, click Run.
    The MessageBox displays the combined path.
